Dennis Swanson serves as an law clerk in Coffey Modica O’Meara’s White Plains office. He has extensive experience in insurance defense, personal injury, premise and product liability, NYS Labor Law, medical malpractice, civil rights, workers compensation, and high-value property damage claims.
Overview
His experience includes working at a high-volume insurance defense firm handling a wide variety of matters that include motor vehicle accidents, NYS Labor Law, medical malpractice, nursing home abuse/neglect, and Child Victims Act litigation. He has researched and prepared complex coverage opinions regarding novel fact patterns, as well as litigated complex NY Scaffolding Law (Labor Law§§ 200,240,241) interactions. He also has experience in civil and criminal matters with a focus on civil rights that include police misconduct and wrongful termination.
Dennis has been involved with the Hofstra Law Criminal Justice Clinic, where he represented misdemeanor defendants in Nassau County under clinical supervision. When he was a judicial intern at the New York State Supreme Court for Judge Joseph Esposito of the 11th Judicial District in Jamaica, Queens he engaged in thorough legal and factual research to inform Court’s disposition of complex multi-party NYS Labor Law §240(1) litigation. Dennis also interned at the New York State Attorney General’s office at the Harlem Regional Office where he provided direct assistance to the Assistant Attorney General responsible for affirmative justice and the Department of Consumer Frauds.
His interests include golf, kayaking, archery, hiking, backpacking, mountain climbing, international travel, and political and cultural history.
